Electrical Engineer – Naval Facilities Engineering

About the role

The Naval Facilities Engineering and Expeditionary Warfare Center is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and implementation of electrical power and distribution systems across Navy installations. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver reliable engineering solutions that support mission‑critical operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead electrical design, review, and analysis of power and distribution systems on Navy installations.
• Manage small groups of engineers and technicians, providing technical recommendations on power issues.
• Prepare business briefings and presentations for senior leadership.
• Create electrical one‑lines, graphs, and charts to communicate engineering solutions and project status.
• Define project objectives, budgets, schedules, staffing needs, and deliverables.
• Draft R&D proposals and Statements of Work to secure project funding.
• Serve as principal investigator or program manager on R&D and engineering services projects as required.

Required profile

• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑05 to GS‑11 or ND‑2 grade level in the Federal service, or comparable private‑sector experience.
• Demonstrated ability to apply technical knowledge of power systems analysis, modeling, and design.
• Experience managing projects involving construction, installation, maintenance, repair, or design of electrical power systems.
• Proven collaboration with engineers, scientists, technicians, financial managers, and facilities managers within the Department of the Navy and Department of Defense.
• Experience working with contractors and senior officials on shore installation management.

Required skills

• Power systems analysis and modeling tools such as SKM, Electrical Transient Analyzer Program (ETAP), and EasyPower.
• Design of electrical power systems, including diesel generators, photovoltaic systems, microgrids, UPS, and distribution networks.
• Project management and coordination of multidisciplinary engineering teams.
