Electrical Procurement Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a technically strong Electrical Procurement & Estimation Engineer to support the delivery of MEP projects across Kenya, Uganda and other East African markets. The role bridges engineering and procurement, requiring the ability to interpret electrical drawings, validate quantities and negotiate with suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Review and interpret electrical drawings, single‑line diagrams, layout drawings and Revit/BIM models to extract material requirements.
• Verify and cross‑check BOQ/take‑off quantities against approved drawings and specifications before procurement.
• Identify and resolve discrepancies between drawings, BOQs and vendor offers, raising queries with the project engineering team.
• Evaluate technical specifications of MV/LV panels, switchgear, transformers, lighting fixtures and cables against IEC/BS/KS standards and project requirements.
• Support the selection of lighting fixtures based on lux levels, IP/IK ratings and lumen output.
• Apply correct cable sizing principles and ensure compliance with project standards.
• Negotiate pricing, terms and delivery schedules with vendors and suppliers.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 2–3 years of experience in electrical procurement or estimation within the MEP/contracting industry.
• Proven ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and Revit models.
• Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.

Required skills

• Electrical drawing interpretation (SLDs, layout, schedules).
• Revit/BIM model navigation.
• BOQ and quantity take‑off verification.
• Technical evaluation of MV/LV panels, switchgear, transformers.
• Lighting fixture specification.
• Cable sizing and selection.
• Knowledge of IEC, BS and Kenyan KEBS standards.
