Senior CAD Technician – GIS & Mapping for Renewable Energy

About the role

Galetech is seeking a Senior CAD Technician with strong GIS expertise to lead the creation of CAD drawings and spatial analyses for wind, solar, battery storage and transmission projects. Based in Nairobi, you will work autonomously, supporting technical and planning teams across multiple locations.

Key responsibilities

• Produce detailed design and layout drawings (site, architectural, engineering) for renewable energy infrastructure.
• Generate planning and permitting drawings that meet validation standards.
• Support tender submissions through drawing production and document compilation.
• Create site constraint and contract maps.
• Prepare GIS‑based site constraint maps, conduct spatial analysis and write supporting reports.
• Collect, process and analyse spatial datasets from environmental, grid and infrastructure sources.
• Conduct site surveys, quality‑check data and perform data analysis.
• Provide CAD, GIS and digital technical support to the wider Galetech team.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of hands‑on CAD experience.
• Relevant qualification in CAD, GIS, engineering, geospatial science or a related field.
• Proven ability to work independently, manage workload and resolve technical issues with minimal supervision.
• Experience delivering high‑quality outputs for renewable energy or infrastructure projects.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD / AutoCAD LT.
• Strong GIS and spatial analysis capabilities.
• Experience with mapping and site‑constraint data handling.
