Electrical Technician

About the role

The Electrical Technician will join the Engineering & Maintenance department to ensure heavy logistics and handling equipment operates safely and efficiently. This role requires strong diagnostic abilities to minimise downtime across a range of industrial electrical systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs on three‑phase power distribution, electric motors, generators, transformers and industrial lighting.
• Read, interpret and update electrical blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics to isolate faults.
• Inspect, program and repair PLCs, VFDs and automated relay logic systems.
• Assist in overhauling and installing electrical systems on quay cranes, container handlers and marine vessels.
• Conduct insulation resistance tests, grounding checks and circuit load testing, ensuring compliance with EPRA and local OSHA standards under LOTO procedures.
• Monitor system efficiency, report anomalies and maintain accurate maintenance and safety logs.

Required profile

• Diploma or HND in Electrical Engineering (Power option) or related field.
• Active EPRA registration (Class C2 or higher preferred) and EBK Technician registration.
• 3–5 years of hands‑on experience as an industrial electrician, preferably in heavy industry, marine ports or terminal depots.
• Experience with Kenya Ports Authority installations and shore‑power systems is an advantage.
• Physical ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
