Elevator Mechanic – Maintenance & Repair

About the role

The Elevator Mechanic will ensure the safe, reliable operation of embassy elevators through routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. Reporting to the Elevator Supervisor, you will work on mechanical and electrical systems to meet certification, licensing, and operational standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance according to published schedules and equipment warranties.
• Diagnose and repair faults in brakes, motors, switches, control systems, and safety devices using test lamps, ammeters, voltmeters, and other diagnostic tools.
• Disassemble defective units, replace or repair parts such as locks, gears, cables, bearings, and safety devices.
• Lubricate bearings and moving parts to reduce friction.
• Install, service, and test transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, and conduit systems.
• Interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and manufacturers’ manuals to locate and resolve equipment issues.
• Document work performed and provide required information to Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance divisions.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED; apprenticeship or Journeyman’s Certificate strongly preferred.
• Familiarity with European and/or US Electrical Codes and accepted trade practices.
• Experience reading engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and maintenance manuals.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and adapt to multiple tasks.
