Entry-Level MEAL Assistant (Nairobi)

About the role

The MEAL Assistant helps RefuSHE collect accurate, timely data on its programs for refugee girls and young women, so the organisation can track results, report to donors and keep improving its work. The role supports data collection, data entry, record‑keeping and the feedback and complaints process, under the guidance of the MEAL Coordinator.

Key responsibilities

• Collect data on program activities (registration, attendance, participation) using paper forms and mobile tools such as KoboToolbox or ODK.
• Enter, clean and update data in the program database, checking for errors, missing information and duplicates.
• Prepare and test data collection tools and train staff and volunteers on their use.
• Support baseline, midline and end‑line surveys, focus groups and interviews, including note‑taking and translation.
• Assist with spot checks, field monitoring visits and record findings.
• Prepare simple data summaries, tables and charts for the MEAL Officer.
• Gather case studies, success stories and photos (with consent) for reports and communications.
• Support the feedback and complaints mechanism by logging feedback and tracking responses.

Required profile

• A diploma or degree in Statistics, Monitoring and Evaluation, Social Sciences or Development.
• At least 1 year of experience in data collection, data entry or M&E, preferably in an NGO setting; recent graduates with relevant internships may be considered.
• Good knowledge of data protection principles and the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.
• Fluent spoken and written English and Kiswahili, with willingness to travel to field sites.
