Executive Head of Product – Digital

About the role

The Executive Head of Product – Digital will own the vision and delivery of Safaricom's consumer fintech app across seven African markets. You will lead a large cross‑functional team to drive product strategy, roadmap, and customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the app product strategy, managing a backlog that balances business impact and superior user experience.
• Lead 80+ engineers, UX designers and product managers, coordinating developers, analysts, architects and operations to deliver on roadmap commitments.
• Drive partnership strategy, negotiating commercial terms with third‑party providers for loyalty, rewards and other innovations.
• Collaborate with local market leaders to co‑develop launch and go‑to‑market plans, supporting digital strategy and business cases.

Required profile

• 8+ years of professional experience, with at least 5 years in digital product management within fintech, banking or related digital businesses.
• Strong knowledge of mobile money, fintech and financial services, and experience serving emerging‑market consumers.
• Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders, negotiate contracts and drive commercial rationalisation across multiple markets.

Required skills

• Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certification.
• Agile/Lean product development methodology.
