External Auditor & Tax Auditor – Kisumu

About the role

The position reports to Audit Managers and Partners/Directors and involves leading external audit and tax audit assignments for clients in the banking, finance and insurance sector. The successful candidate will manage teams, ensure high‑quality delivery and benefit from clear career progression.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, lead, manage and supervise execution of external audit and advisory engagements.
• Assist in budgeting, pricing and setting deadlines, ensuring projects stay within limits.
• Review audit work, sign‑off delivery reports and maintain quality control.
• Conduct regular client meetings to discuss business updates, audit findings and resolve issues.
• Supervise and coach junior staff, set objectives and provide constructive feedback.
• Ensure audit fees are billed and collected on time and meet project recovery targets.
• Support business development by strengthening existing client relationships and participating in sales meetings.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACCA, CPA, ACA) with at least 3 years of audit experience in a reputable firm.
• Undergraduate degree or higher.
• Strong business awareness and ability to identify audit issues.
• Experience dealing with revenue authority and Kenyan tax laws.
• Demonstrated leadership, integrity and business development capability.

Required skills

• Good knowledge of modern auditing methodologies, ISAs and IFRSs.
• Proficiency with VT and Quickbooks.
• Excellent supervision, communication and ICT skills.
