Farm Supervisor - Mixed Farming Resort

About the role

A newly established small high-end resort in Timau, Meru is hiring a qualified and experienced farm operations manager (farm supervisor) with diverse agricultural knowledge covering both animals and plants. The position is advertised by Corporate Staffing, with a gross salary of KES 40,000–50,000.

Key responsibilities

• Manage livestock (dairy cows, sheep, goats) and crops (vegetables, fruits) and implement strategies for maximum yield.
• Organize farm administration, manage farm staff and look for markets for the farm's products.
• Plan finances and production to keep the farm on budget, buy supplies such as fertilizer and seeds, and restock them regularly.
• Maintain and monitor the quality of yield, monitor animal health and welfare (including liaising with government vets), and stay informed about pests and diseases.
• Handle the marketing and sale of farm products such as fruits, vegetables, meat, chicken parts and eggs.
• Inspect crops and livestock across the farm, test soil and water, and apply health and safety standards.
• Perform artificial insemination, fodder production and preservation.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Agriculture Science, Animal Science or a related field.
• 2-3 years of work experience; extensive experience managing a farm and experience in mixed farming are advantages.
• Passion for agriculture and care for dairy animals.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking skills, and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Self-motivated, with excellent budgeting skills; willingness to work overtime is required.
