Fecal Sludge Treatment Supervisor

About the role

Malindi Water & Sewerage Company Ltd (MAWASCO), a public water utility wholly owned by the County Government of Kilifi and regulated by WASREB, invites applications for a Fecal Sludge Treatment Supervisor. The post supports efficient operations at the Sabaki and Watamu fecal sludge treatment facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily operations of wastewater and fecal sludge treatment plants.
• Monitor treatment processes and ensure effluent meets NEMA discharge standards.
• Coordinate sampling, laboratory tests and process adjustments.
• Carry out routine equipment inspections and preventive maintenance.
• Ensure safe handling of chemicals and compliance with OSHA 2007.
• Maintain accurate plant logs, reports and regulatory documentation.
• Train and guide plant operators and support staff.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Water Engineering/Technology, Environmental Engineering, Wastewater Treatment or a related field with at least 3 years' experience, or a diploma in a related field with at least 5 years' experience.
• Experience operating and supervising wastewater treatment processes.
• Knowledge of treatment process controls and regulatory standards.
• Strong analytical and decision-making ability, good communication and leadership skills, and ability to work in demanding plant environments.
• Commitment to safety and compliance.
