- Build and maintain professional relationships with clients, explain loan status and repayment options, and address queries promptly.
- Monitor client activity and give the Collections Manager regular feedback on account status, risks and recovery prospects.
- Keep accurate records of every visit, interaction and repayment agreement in the system and update accounts promptly.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly and monthly field collection reports showing performance against target.
- Ensure all collection activities comply with company policy, applicable laws and regulations, and ethical standards.
- Identify and report potential risks, fraud or untraceable accounts, and recommend ways to reduce defaults.
- Meet and exceed monthly collection targets, improve the recovery rate of the portfolio and share successful strategies with the team.
Required profile
- Minimum Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE); a diploma or degree in Business Administration, Finance, Sales & Marketing or a related field is an added advantage.
- Proven experience in debt or field collection, preferably in financial services, microfinance, SACCO or insurance, is highly desirable.
- Fluent in English and Swahili.
- Willingness to travel and conduct regular field visits; a valid driving or riding licence is an added advantage.
- A valid Certificate of Good Conduct will be required before engagement.
Required skills
- Strong negotiation and persuasion skills, able to handle rejection and challenging situations calmly.
- Good understanding of debt collection processes, regulations and ethical collection practice.
- Ability to work independently, plan routes and manage time in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Proficiency in mobile and computer applications for reporting and communication.
