Field Enumerator Consultant for Population Health Study

About the role

The Consultant, Field Enumerator will support data collection for the LOSHAK population health study across multiple Kenyan counties. The role involves conducting household interviews, administering health surveys, and deploying actigraphy devices.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in enumerator training, household mapping, pilot testing and complete certification.
• Identify, locate and visit assigned households following sampling procedures, obtain informed consent and conduct interviews using the CAPI application.
• Administer multi‑module LOSHAK Core and HCAP surveys, including cognitive and neuropsychological assessments.
• Perform clinical and anthropometric measurements (blood pressure, hand‑grip strength, height, weight, waist and hip circumference).
• Deploy, retrieve and monitor wearable physical activity trackers, ensuring device functionality.
• Maintain accurate daily field reports, data logs and synchronize data with the central secure server.

Required profile

• At least a Diploma in Statistics, Public Health, Community Health, Social Sciences, Demography, Epidemiology, Computer Science or related field.
• Experience conducting household or population‑based surveys, preferably national surveys led by KNBS.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Fluency in English, Kiswahili and local languages of the study areas.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Computer‑Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) applications on tablets or smartphones.
• Use of digital blood pressure machines and other anthropometry devices (dynamometers, measuring tapes).
• Handling and troubleshooting wearable activity trackers (actigraphy devices).
