Field Technician – Structured Cabling & Security Systems

About the role

CBX Solutions is seeking a Field Technician to join its installation team. You will work on new‑construction and retrofit projects, installing wireless access points, door hardware, access control panels, CCTV cameras, NVR/VMS platforms and a variety of structured‑cabling systems.

Key responsibilities

• Install and terminate copper, fiber and low‑voltage cabling.
• Mount network switches, wireless access points and other IP devices.
• Deploy analog and IP CCTV cameras and configure NVR/VMS platforms.
• Install cable pathway systems and power supplies.
• Label, test and document horizontal and backbone cabling runs.
• Collaborate with project managers, lead technicians and other field staff.
• Track daily tasks, hours worked and assist with site clean‑up.
• Participate in commissioning and system testing.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Current certification in at least one VMS system and one structured‑cabling system.
• Minimum one year of experience as an installer or equivalent.
• Pass a background check and drug screening.

• Structured cabling (copper, fiber, low‑voltage, twisted pair, coax).
• Network switches and wireless access points.
• IP camera technology (analog and IP cameras).
• NVR/VMS platform installation and configuration.
• Cable pathway system installation.
• Termination and testing of category and fiber optic cables.
• Basic networking principles.
• Door hardware, access control and credential technologies.
• Low‑voltage electrical principles.
