Finance Assistant

About the role

The Finance Assistant will support the IRC's financial operations in Kenya, ensuring internal controls are followed when processing transactions, payments, and reconciliations within the IRC financial system.

Key responsibilities

• Verify cash payments against IRC Kenya delineation chart and authorize within set limits.
• Prepare invoice and payment journals, submit for workflow approval, and post to the Integra system.
• Enter accurate accounts payable and receivable data in Integra, applying correct financial dimensions.
• Monitor vendor invoices for 3‑way match and ensure timely processing.
• Prepare cash receipt journals and bank reconciliation statements weekly, flagging discrepancies.
• Maintain organized filing for invoice and payment journals and support audit documentation requests.
• Coordinate with HR to ensure incentive payroll is submitted by the 20th of each month.

Required profile

• Minimum CPA II qualification or university degree with at least one year of finance/accounting experience.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality.
• Strong communication skills and adaptability to new tasks.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Excel.
• Familiarity with ERP systems.
• Working knowledge of accounting software such as Microsoft 365.
