Finance & Reconciliations Accountant (6‑Month Contract)

About the role

pawaPay is looking for a hands‑on Finance & Reconciliations Accountant on a six‑month contract to support high‑volume reconciliations, balance‑sheet clean‑up and audit preparation ahead of FY2026 statutory audits.

Key responsibilities

• Perform historical and current wallet balance reconciliations against general‑ledger accounts and operational MNO data.
• Reconcile tax balances (VAT, withholding tax, local statutory taxes) recorded in the GL against filed returns across assigned markets.
• Execute transfer‑pricing and inter‑company reconciliations for entities with local invoicing arrangements.
• Build and maintain audit schedules, working papers and supporting documentation for FY2026 statutory audits and the Q1 2027 audit cycle.
• Carry out month‑end and year‑end balance‑sheet substantiation, driving down aged or unsupported items.

Required profile

• 2‑4 years of hands‑on accounting or finance experience, preferably in fintech, payments, banking or audit environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Commerce; progress toward CPA, ACCA or equivalent is a plus.
• Strong analytical rigor and investigative mindset focused on root‑cause analysis.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (data manipulation, complex lookups, reconciliation formulas, pivot tables).
