Financial Accountant

About the role
The Elimisha Watoto Foundation is seeking a detail‑oriented Financial Accountant to manage its financial records and ensure accurate, timely reporting. Based in Nairobi, you will work on‑site with program and operations teams to support scholarship disbursements and donor reporting.
Key responsibilities
- Maintain the general ledger and produce monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements using QuickBooks.
- Process monthly payroll and ensure timely disbursement.
- Handle full‑cycle statutory filings and remittances (SHIF, NSSF, NITA, PAYE, Housing Levy, HELB, VAT).
- Prepare ETIMS‑compliant invoices and manage cash flow, budgeting and forecasting.
- Assist with external audit preparation and coordinate audit activities.
- Collaborate with program teams to track scholarship payments and supplier invoices.
- Identify and recommend process improvements and support the development of financial policies.
Required profile
- CPA Part II (Section 4) or CPA Intermediate qualification; finalist status is a plus.
- Proven experience in a similar accounting role, preferably in a nonprofit or donor‑funded environment.
- Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and statutory compliance requirements.
Required skills
- Proficiency with QuickBooks accounting software.
