Financial Controller – Nairobi

About the role

The Financial Controller will lead accounting and financial reporting for Africa Global Logistics in Nairobi. You will prepare management accounts, budgets and cash‑flow forecasts while ensuring compliance with tax and regulatory requirements. The role supports strategic financial decisions and trade‑finance operations.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all accounting operations including receivables, payables, revenue recognition and cost accounting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual management accounts and financial statements.
• Coordinate budgeting and forecasting processes, report variances and provide analysis for decision‑making.
• Monitor and reconcile trade transactions, letters of credit, guarantees and foreign‑exchange exposures.
• Develop, implement and monitor internal financial controls to mitigate risk.
• Oversee cash‑flow management, equity requirements and treasury activities related to trade financing.
• Provide variance, profitability and strategic financial analysis to senior management.
• Lead, mentor and develop the finance team as the business scales.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
• CPA(K) certification.
• 5–10 years of senior finance or accounting experience, preferably in banking, trade finance or corporate finance.
• Strong knowledge of trade‑finance instruments, corporate accounting and tax regulations.
• Proficiency in accounting and financial software with advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent analytical, strategic planning and communication abilities.
