Fire Crew Chief

About the role

Amentum is seeking a Fire Crew Chief to lead fire‑fighting personnel supporting a critical U.S. Navy program on Diego Garcia. The role oversees fire suppression, rescue, prevention and emergency response activities for structural fires, aircraft incidents, hazardous‑material events and other fire‑related operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise fire‑fighting crews during structural, aircraft, hazardous‑material, rescue and emergency response missions.
• Direct fire‑ground operations including fire attack, containment, salvage, overhaul, ventilation and rescue.
• Ensure all fire‑fighting equipment, vehicles and response systems are inspected, maintained and ready for immediate deployment.
• Assess emergency scenes, document conditions and provide accurate information to senior officers for incident reporting.
• Monitor crew performance, enforce fire‑fighting procedures, safety standards and operational protocols.
• Provide first‑responder medical care and support emergency medical activities as required.
• Train, mentor and develop assigned fire‑fighters to maintain operational readiness.
• Maintain records, reports, inspections and documentation related to fire prevention and emergency preparedness.

Required profile

• Minimum six (6) years of professional fire service experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven leadership experience supervising fire‑fighting personnel.
• Ability to evaluate risks and select appropriate response strategies under pressure.
