Food Technologist / Ingredients Sales Engineer

About the role

MSVL Group is urgently seeking a Food Technologist / Sales Engineer to drive technical sales and business development of food ingredients in the Kenyan market. The role combines food-technology expertise with consultative B2B selling, supporting customers in ingredient selection, formulation, product trials, troubleshooting and product development while achieving sales, revenue and margin targets. It builds relationships with food manufacturers across bakery, dairy, beverages, meat, confectionery, sauces, mayonnaise, ketchup, snacks and other processed-food sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Food ingredient sales and business development, including technical sales and ingredient application
• Customer management in the food industry, with product and ingredient knowledge
• Support customer trials and product development
• Market development and competitor intelligence
• Supplier and principal management
• Reporting on KPIs, commercial and sales administration, and sales strategy and planning

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Applied Food Science, Nutrition & Technology, or Chemistry/Biochemistry, acceptable with relevant food-industry experience
• Diploma in Food Science/Food Technology may be considered for candidates with strong 5+ years of industry and sales experience
• Degree in Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, Microbiology or related sciences can also be considered with substantial experience selling food ingredients
• Strong existing network of Kenyan food manufacturers and a proven B2B sales record
• Ability to sell technical ingredients rather than commodity products
• Willingness to travel extensively within Kenya

Required skills

• Experience with customer trials, formulation support and technical presentations is highly desirable
• Strong negotiation and account-management skills
