Forklift Operator

About the role

This position is responsible for handling palletised goods, maintaining accurate inventory records, and ensuring smooth transfer of items between trucks, containers and yard storage in a busy port environment.

Key responsibilities

• Safely operate sit‑down forklifts, stand‑up forklifts, pallet jacks and reach trucks to perform daily warehouse tasks.
• Load and unload commercial trucks and container trailers, wrap, stack and stage palletised goods in assigned bays.
• Scan and track cargo movements using RF scanners and the Warehouse Management System (WMS); verify manifests and bills of lading.
• Rotate stock according to First‑In‑First‑Out (FIFO) standards and support cycle counts and inventory audits.
• Conduct OSHA‑required pre‑shift equipment checks and remove any unsafe forklift from service immediately.
• Maintain a clean, orderly warehouse floor while adhering to terminal traffic rules.

Required profile

• KCSE D (plain) or equivalent.
• Valid NTSA driving licence (class B, C or E) with an accident‑free record.
• Documented forklift operator certification from an accredited body.
• Minimum three years of continuous forklift experience in a busy port, ICD or cross‑dock environment; KPA experience is an advantage.
• Strong hand‑eye coordination, attention to detail and a safety‑first mindset.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
