Forward Deployed Engineer – Sub-Saharan Africa – Fully Remote

About the role

The Forward Deployed Engineer works directly with NGO partners across East Africa and other regions, designing, implementing and adapting technology platforms to improve impact in low‑resource environments.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and adapt data‑driven technology solutions at partner sites in multiple countries.
• Deploy, configure and customize the client’s platforms to scale partner operations.
• Serve as the primary technical contact for field‑side implementation challenges.
• Train partner staff, build internal technical capacity and document deployment processes.

Required profile

• 2–5 years of software engineering, data science or technical consulting experience.
• Proficient in at least one backend language (e.g., Python, JavaScript) and comfortable with APIs.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to work autonomously in low‑connectivity environments.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities for training technical and non‑technical audiences.
