General Kitchen Steward (Entry Level)

About the role

Our client, a hotel in Konza, is looking for a reliable General Kitchen Steward to support daily kitchen operations. This entry‑level position focuses on maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and proper handling of kitchen equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, surfaces and work areas.
• Assist chefs and kitchen staff with basic food preparation and general duties.
• Maintain proper hygiene and cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
• Dispose of waste safely according to hotel procedures.
• Handle crockery, utensils and equipment carefully to minimise breakages.
• Record and report chipped or damaged items.
• Arrange and store kitchen equipment, utensils and supplies properly.
• Prepare buffet equipment and kitchen items for functions and events.
• Follow all hotel health, safety and hygiene procedures.
• Report damaged equipment, maintenance issues or safety concerns promptly.
• Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• KCSE certificate or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of relevant experience, preferably in a hotel, kitchen or hospitality environment.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment and willingness to work shifts.
• Strong hygiene and cleanliness standards.
• Good teamwork, communication and attention to detail.
• Reliable, disciplined, hardworking and able to work under pressure.
• Positive and professional attitude with a willingness to learn.
