General Manager

About the role

The General Manager oversees all aspects of the company, including sourcing, quality control, sales, safety and operational efficiency, while driving strategic initiatives to meet sales goals, control costs and satisfy customers. The role also provides guidance and leadership to the team so that individual, departmental and organisational targets are achieved. The position is full time, based on the outskirts of Nairobi.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of all business units, such as sourcing, ordering, pricing, sales, dispatch and delivery, to ensure business continuity, effectiveness and efficiency.
• Create and implement periodic growth strategies for each business unit.
• Set key performance goals with the teams and follow up on implementation, and periodically set and discuss sales targets with the team and their supervisor.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, customers, investors, financial institutions, development partners and government agencies.
• Take part in periodic performance reviews of the teams to measure performance and set improvement goals.
• Drive revenue growth and profitability.
• Oversee the development and delivery of digital marketplace solutions and related services.
• Lead budgeting, financial planning and resource allocation.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Agriculture, Finance, Economics, Technology or a related field; an MBA or equivalent is an added advantage.
• Professional qualifications in leadership, finance or governance are desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience, including at least 3 years in a senior executive role.
• Experience in agribusiness, agri-tech, digital platforms, financial services, supply chain or a related sector.
• Demonstrated success in business growth, strategy execution, fundraising and stakeholder management.
