General Nurse

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated General Nurse to join St. Lukes Orthopaedics and Trauma Hospital in Westlands. The role involves delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients across orthopaedic, trauma and general medical units.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate patient records and healthcare reports.
• Administer medications, monitor for side‑effects and record vital signs.
• Observe, report and document patient progress, symptoms and changes in condition.
• Order and evaluate diagnostic tests in collaboration with physicians.
• Coordinate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans.
• Monitor diet, physical activity and overall patient wellbeing.
• Operate medical equipment, ensure ventilators and monitors are functional.
• Respond to medical emergencies such as heart attacks, strokes, accidents and burns, and provide post‑operative care.
• Conduct minor theatre procedures within licensing guidelines.
• Bill patients for services rendered and participate in community health activities.

Required profile

• Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nurse (KRCHN) or Kenya Registered Nurse (KRN).
• Valid practicing nursing licence.
• Minimum five (5) years continuous nursing experience in a busy Level 4 or Level 5 hospital.
• Excellent communication and customer‑care skills.
• Professional and friendly attitude.

Required skills

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred).
• Proficiency in operating medical equipment such as ventilators and monitors.
