Grievance Officer – Operational HR Role

About the role

The Grievance Officer will manage the company’s operational‑level grievance mechanisms for employees, contract workers, trade unions and surrounding communities. Based on site in Nanyuki with frequent field visits, the role ensures timely, lawful and culturally appropriate resolution of labour and community concerns.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, log and triage grievances through confidential, non‑retaliatory channels.
• Assess urgency, risk and rights impact; determine appropriate resolution pathways.
• Maintain a comprehensive grievance register and track cases to closure.
• Conduct or coordinate impartial investigations, including interviews and site inspections.
• Engage complainants, supervisors, union officials, contractors and community leaders to facilitate dialogue.
• Facilitate fair resolutions such as mediation, corrective actions and negotiated settlements.
• Recommend and monitor implementation of proportionate remedies and corrective measures.

Required profile

• Mid‑level professional with at least 24 months relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan labour law, UNGP Principle 31 and grievance handling standards.
• Experience working with diverse stakeholder groups including unions and local communities.
• Excellent analytical, investigative and communication abilities.
