Head of Engagement – Membership & Communications

About the role

The Head of Engagement leads CHS Alliance’s membership, engagement and communications portfolio from Nairobi, reporting directly to the Executive Director. The role oversees two staff members, shapes the end‑to‑end membership journey, drives learning networks and defines a coherent communication strategy that amplifies the Alliance’s impact globally.

Key responsibilities

• Design and manage the full membership lifecycle, from onboarding through structured learning offers and shared‑learning networks.
• Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with the Alliance’s global objectives.
• Collaborate with teams responsible for CHS verification, country cooperatives, training, communities of practice and PSEAH initiatives.
• Represent the Alliance externally on accountability and sector issues, particularly in the Global South.
• Review and enhance existing tools and processes to improve the member experience.
• Lead, mentor and evaluate the Information Management and Stakeholder Relations Officer and the Communication and Content Officer.

Required profile

• Proven track record of building and running valued membership services such as training programmes, learning communities or membership offers.
• Strong leadership and persuasive communication skills.
• Experience working in the humanitarian or development sector, preferably with a global network.
• Eligibility to work in Kenya.
• Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and external partners.
