Head of Insurance Product Development

About the role

We are looking for an experienced, commercially‑driven Head of Insurance Products to lead the development, growth and performance of our insurance portfolio in Kenya. The role is full‑time, on‑site in Nairobi and reports to senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the insurance product strategy, including development, launch, review and enhancement of products based on market and customer needs.
• Identify new business opportunities, customer segments and distribution channels, including digital and embedded insurance solutions.
• Manage partnerships with insurers, underwriters and strategic partners, negotiating product terms, pricing and commissions.
• Drive premium and revenue growth, product uptake, renewals, customer retention and portfolio profitability.
• Monitor performance indicators such as sales, claims experience, loss ratios, conversion and customer satisfaction.
• Oversee claims management to ensure efficient resolution and a positive customer experience.
• Lead, coach and manage the insurance sales and business development team to achieve targets.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with the Insurance Regulatory Authority (IRA) and related Kenyan insurance laws.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Insurance, Actuarial Science, Business, Finance, Economics or a related field; COP required.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in insurance product management, business development, distribution or portfolio management.
• Proven track record in product development, insurer/underwriter partnerships, claims handling and commercial performance.
• Strong understanding of the Kenyan insurance market and IRA regulatory environment.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and deliver revenue, premium and portfolio growth.
