Head of Legacy Engineering & Migration Enablement

About the role

Lead Caava’s legacy engineering portfolio, protecting the company’s largest revenue source while enabling modernisation and migration to the new Evolve platform. The role balances running existing services, growing capabilities, and modernising systems.

Key responsibilities

• Protect legacy revenue and ensure customer continuity through reliable application support and incident improvement.
• Own delivery of legacy statements of work, projects and lifecycle upgrades (WebLogic, Java, Oracle) while managing estimates, resources and change control.
• Enable safe, repeatable migration to Evolve, including business‑rule discovery, data conversion, reconciliation and cut‑over planning.
• Build and maintain a resilient engineering team, close capacity gaps through hiring, partners and cross‑training, and retain critical knowledge.

Required profile

• 5+ years of systems engineering experience, with at least 2 years leading teams or complex delivery portfolios.
• Proven ability to protect production services while delivering customer‑focused projects under constrained specialist capacity.
• Strong commercial judgement and ability to communicate trade‑offs and recommendations at executive level.
• Experience in regulated industries such as insurance or financial services is strongly preferred.

Required skills

• Oracle, PL/SQL, ADF, WebLogic, Java and integration technologies.
• Practical experience with controlled upgrades and data migration.
