HR Manager

About the role

The Luke Hotel is seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead its human resources function across all departments. You will be responsible for recruitment, employee relations, training, performance management, compensation, and compliance for a large, multi‑department workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute workforce planning, recruitment, selection and onboarding for all hotel areas.
• Maintain personnel records, contracts, job descriptions, policies and HR documentation.
• Handle employee relations, grievances, investigations and disciplinary actions.
• Ensure compliance with Kenyan labour law and hotel HR policies.
• Coordinate performance‑management processes, probation reviews, confirmations, PIPs and succession planning.
• Oversee staff training and development programmes, including induction and operational training.
• Administer compensation and benefits, providing accurate data for payroll processing.
• Monitor attendance, leave, absenteeism, overtime, turnover and manpower costs.
• Supervise the HR/Training Officer and Staff Welfare/Canteen Coordinator.
• Advise the General Manager and department heads on staffing, policy and disciplinary matters.
• Coordinate staff welfare, uniforms, canteen standards and employee engagement initiatives.
• Prepare HR reports and manpower dashboards for management review.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of HR experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role; hospitality experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of labour‑law compliance, recruitment, onboarding, employee relations and disciplinary procedures.
• Experience managing training programmes, compensation/benefits and performance management.
• Excellent communication, confidentiality, documentation and conflict‑resolution skills.
• Professional HR certification (e.g., IHRM, SHRM) is an advantage.
