HR Officer (Oil & Gas) – Kenya

About the role

The HR Officer will support all HR functions for WTS Energy's oil & gas operations in Kenya, ensuring accurate record‑keeping, recruitment coordination, and compliance with Kenyan employment legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain employee records, contracts, HR forms, and HRIS data; prepare employment letters and related documentation.
• Coordinate recruitment activities, schedule interviews, conduct reference checks, and manage onboarding and induction processes.
• Track attendance, leave, probation periods, contract expiries, promotions, transfers and exits, and produce regular HR reports.
• Provide first‑line support for employee queries, assist with disciplinary and grievance processes, and support employee engagement and welfare initiatives.
• Support payroll data preparation, verify leave and attendance inputs, and maintain benefit records.
• Assist the HR Manager with administrative tasks, HR projects, and continuous improvement of HR systems and processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or related field.
• Minimum 5 years progressive HR or HR administration experience in oil & gas, industrial or renewable energy sectors.
• CHRP qualification or ongoing training preferred; membership of a recognised HR body is an advantage.
• Good knowledge of Kenyan employment legislation and HR compliance requirements.
• Strong record‑keeping, document management and reporting abilities with high attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience using an HRIS/ERP system.
