HSE Supervisor for Vegetable Oil Extraction Plant

About the role

The HSE Supervisor will lead health, safety and environmental initiatives at a vegetable oil extraction plant in Wote, ensuring compliance with Kenyan regulations and industry best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Implement, monitor and continuously improve HSE management systems and procedures.
• Conduct workplace inspections, safety audits, risk assessments and ensure corrective actions are taken.
• Lead investigations of incidents, accidents and near‑misses, performing root‑cause analysis and recommending preventive measures.
• Coordinate HSE inductions, toolbox talks, safety awareness campaigns and training for staff, contractors and visitors.
• Maintain accurate HSE records, monitor environmental performance and support emergency preparedness plans.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years HSE experience in milling, mining or vegetable oil extraction environments.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan occupational safety, health and environmental legislation.
• Certification in Occupational Health & Safety (DOSHS‑approved or equivalent) and training in risk assessment, incident investigation and fire safety.

Required skills

• ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management system knowledge.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and HSE reporting systems.
• Laboratory operation and quality control supervision.
