Human Resource Officer – Generalist (National)

About the role

The Human Resource Officer – Generalist supports the HR Manager and L&D Manager in delivering day‑to‑day HR services across Church World Service Africa. Based in Nairobi, the role focuses on recruitment, compensation, benefits, HR administration, and compliance with HR policies and labour law.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the full recruitment cycle: post vacancies, screen CVs, coordinate interviews, conduct reference checks, extend offers and maintain recruitment reports.
• Ensure internal recruitment complies with CWS recruitment policy and supports selection of best‑fit candidates.
• Maintain accurate HR records on SharePoint and the UKG HRIS, including staff contracts, leave utilisation, sick‑off trends and audit‑ready documentation.
• Prepare quarterly turnover reports, exit surveys and facilitate staff separation processes.
• Support compensation and benefits decisions, and assist with learning and development initiatives.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in HR administration and talent acquisition within a nonprofit or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan labour law and HR policy compliance.
• Ability to manage HR data, generate reports and ensure audit‑ready documentation.

Required skills

• SharePoint for HR information management.
• UKG HRIS (or similar HR information system).
