Human Resource Officer (HRO)

About the role

Career Directions Limited (CDL) is hiring a Human Resource Officer (HRO) based in Nairobi. The main duty is to supervise HR and administrative tasks covering recruitment, contracting, onboarding, performance management, attendance, disciplinary matters and offboarding for personnel at the client site, while also helping build and maintain strong workplace relationships.

Key responsibilities

• Manage leave requests for direct staff members
• Facilitate onboarding for new hires and ensure contracts are issued on time
• Act as a key point of contact for employee concerns or grievances
• Support performance evaluations for direct staff
• Maintain accurate HR records, including employee files, attendance records and training documentation
• Process payroll accurately, verify timesheets, handle salary adjustments and deductions
• Stay up to date with labour law changes and ensure compliance with employment regulations and internal policies
• Drive retention and growth of the existing customer base through good service and strong client relationships

Required profile

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as an HR practitioner or in an operations role in a dynamic business environment
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management or a related business field from a reputable institution
• Preferred: understanding of Kenya's employment laws

Required skills

• Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office and HRMIS systems
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to troubleshoot and resolve operational challenges
• Preferred: people management, attention to detail and ability to work with a diverse group of people
