Human Resource Officer

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Human Resource Officer to join our team in Kisumu. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing day‑to‑day HR operations, supporting recruitment initiatives, and ensuring that all HR practices align with Kenyan labour legislation. This role offers the opportunity to work within a dynamic shipping and logistics environment, collaborating closely with operational managers and staff at all levels.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and regularly update employee personnel files, HR records, and confidential documentation.
• Coordinate end‑to‑end recruitment processes, including job posting, screening, interviewing, onboarding, and orientation.
• Administer leave management, attendance tracking, and related HR documentation accurately.
• Support performance management cycles, including goal setting, appraisal facilitation, and employee development planning.
• Ensure strict compliance with company policies, internal procedures, and Kenyan labour laws.
• Handle employee relations issues with professionalism, confidentiality, and timely resolution.
• Prepare regular HR reports, analytics, and assist the payroll team with accurate data provision.
• Assist in the continuous improvement and implementation of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in any business‑related discipline.
• At least two years of hands‑on experience in HR functions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Prior experience in the transport and logistics sector is considered an advantage.
