Human Resource Officer

About the role

As the Human Resource Officer at Pearl Hospital, you will manage daily people‑operations to ensure the hospital runs fairly and efficiently. Reporting to the COO, you will support hiring, staff records, payroll inputs, performance cycles and employee relations, enabling clinical and support teams to focus on patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Run end‑to‑end recruitment: advertise, screen, interview, prepare offers, onboard and handle separations.
• Maintain accurate staff files, monitor attendance, leave balances, probation milestones and prepare payroll inputs.
• Administer performance appraisal cycles and track follow‑up actions.
• Provide first‑line guidance for disciplinary hearings, grievances and employee relations matters.
• Draft, review and roll out HR policies, procedures and standard documentation in line with legal and hospital requirements.
• Organise new‑hire orientation and coordinate training, recognition, engagement and succession‑planning activities.
• Produce workforce reports on headcount, turnover, absenteeism, overtime and other indicators for management.
• Ensure compliance with Kenyan employment and labour laws and advise department leaders on routine HR matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or related field.
• Minimum three years of generalist HR experience covering recruitment, performance management, employee relations and HR administration.
• Active membership with the Institute of Human Resource Management.
• Up‑to‑date knowledge of Kenyan employment and labour legislation.
• Strong documentation, organisational and reporting abilities with minimal supervision.
• Integrity, discretion and self‑direction.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
