Human Resources Legal Manager

About the role

The Human Resources Legal Manager will lead the development and enforcement of HR policies, ensuring full compliance with Kenyan labour legislation. This senior position works closely with senior management to mitigate legal risk and foster a compliant, respectful workplace.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, review, and update HR policies and procedures.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with Kenyan labour and employment laws.
• Advise senior management on HR‑related legal matters and employee issues.
• Oversee disciplinary, grievance, and employee‑relations processes.
• Guarantee legally compliant recruitment, onboarding, and employment documentation.
• Conduct regular HR compliance audits and maintain required records.
• Deliver training on HR policies, employment law, and compliance.
• Liaise with external legal counsel when needed.
• Prepare HR compliance reports and regulatory documentation.

Required profile

• 8–10 years of experience in HR, HR legal, or a related management role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Resources Management, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan labour and employment law.
• Proven experience in employee relations, disciplinary and grievance management.
• Experience in HR policy development and implementation.
• Experience in healthcare or other regulated industries is an advantage.
• Excellent analytical, drafting, communication, and negotiation skills.
• High level of confidentiality, attention to detail, and professionalism.
• HR or legal professional certification is a plus.
