Human Resources Officer – Mining Site

About the role

The client, a mining company operating the West Pokot Mine Site, seeks a Human Resources Officer to lead HR functions on‑site. Reporting to the HR Manager at head office, you will ensure recruitment, employee relations, payroll control and contractor compliance are carried out within the approved framework.

Key responsibilities

• Lead site recruitment from approved requisitions, manage advertising, short‑listing, interviews and documentation.
• Control payroll inputs for permanent staff, casual workforce and contractors, validating attendance and payment worksheets.
• Handle employee relations, disciplinary cases and grievances in line with the Employment Act and company procedures.
• Supervise the HR Assistant, reviewing their daily administration, attendance capture and record keeping.
• Audit personnel files, contracts and casual registers within the first 30 days and maintain audit‑ready HR records.

Required profile

• Demonstrated experience in HR administration, preferably in a high‑volume, mixed‑employment environment.
• Strong understanding of Kenyan labour law, the Mining Act 2016 and local employment requirements.
• Ability to work independently on a remote mine site while maintaining strict confidentiality and integrity.
• Excellent communication skills to advise site leadership and interact with community stakeholders.
