IFF Operator - Export Container Logistics (M/F)

About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, maritime and rail) in Africa and part of the MSC Group, is hiring an IFF Operator for its Export Container Logistics unit in Mombasa. The role oversees and coordinates the efficient movement, handling and coordination of empty and full containers for export operations, including genset management and yard operations. It is a full-time position under a fixed-term contract.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate with shipping line depots for the timely release and availability of empty containers for export, and plan and supervise the dispatch of containers for stuffing.
• Liaise with transporters and drivers to ensure timely movement of empty and loaded containers, monitor vehicle allocation, turnaround time and schedule adherence, and resolve transport issues quickly.
• Coordinate with the equipment handling and workshop team on fixing and unfixing clip-on gensets to reefer containers, ensuring their availability and proper functioning, overseeing genset fueling and maintaining adequate fuel levels, and ensuring safety and procedural compliance.
• Coordinate the drop-off of loaded containers at the AGL yard, ensure proper stacking and tracking, and supervise the plug-in of reefer containers after gensets are removed, including regular function and temperature monitoring.
• Coordinate the movement and loading of containers from the yard to the port, keeping documentation and timing aligned with vessel cut-offs and port requirements, and communicating closely with the Internal Export Ops and Port/Terminal Ops teams.
• Prepare and submit daily stock reports of full containers at the yard, track and report container movements (in/out, yard status, transit), and highlight bottlenecks and recommend improvements.
• Ensure compliance with company standards, safety regulations and industry best practices, and promote a safety culture among drivers, operators and yard personnel.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in C&F, shipping or a related field.
• 2 years of experience in C&F or shipping.
• Experience working with shipping lines and depots.
• Hands-on experience with reefer containers and genset operations is a strong advantage.
