Information Security Specialist (Remote)

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Information Security Specialist to join a leading technology organization on a remote contract basis. The role focuses on safeguarding critical data and infrastructure by applying industry‑standard security frameworks and proactive threat mitigation. You will work independently while collaborating with global IT teams to embed security throughout the development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Perform regular security assessments, audits, and penetration tests to uncover vulnerabilities in systems, networks, and applications.
• Develop, maintain, and enforce security policies, procedures, and controls aligned with NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls.
• Monitor security tools, investigate incidents, and execute corrective actions to remediate breaches.
• Partner with development and operations teams to integrate security controls into new and existing services.
• Deliver security awareness training and guidance to reduce human‑related risk.

Required profile

• Proven experience in information security, preferably in a consulting or enterprise environment.
• Strong analytical abilities to interpret security logs, reports, and complex technical data.
• Excellent communication skills for cross‑functional collaboration and training.

Required skills

• Hands‑on experience with security frameworks such as NIST, ISO 27001, or CIS Controls.
• Proficiency with vulnerability scanning tools (Nessus, Qualys, OpenVAS).
• Knowledge of network security devices, firewalls, IDS/IPS solutions.
• Familiarity with compliance standards including GDPR, HIPAA, and SOC 2.
