Information Technology Assistant

About the role

The United Nations Office at Nairobi is seeking an Information Technology Assistant to join the Infrastructure Management Section of the ICT Service. The incumbent will support day‑to‑day server operations, installation, and administration across a diverse UN campus environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install, configure, test, deploy and maintain physical and virtual server infrastructure, including Windows Server, Linux, Unix, virtualization platforms, Citrix and database systems.
• Administer and monitor server services such as DNS, DHCP, mail relay, Active Directory and security software, ensuring optimal performance and security.
• Provide 24 × 7 operational support, troubleshoot incidents, perform root‑cause analysis and coordinate with the IT Service Desk.
• Manage procurement, receipt, inventory and asset tracking of data‑centre, network and server equipment through the ERM system.
• Oversee data‑centre and switch‑room facilities, structured cabling and environmental controls in line with ISO, TIA and ASHRAE standards.
