Inspector I Mechanical – Job Grade 7

About the role

The Coast Water Works Development Agency is seeking a qualified Inspector I Mechanical (Job Grade 7) to oversee the maintenance and inspection of mechanical assets within its water infrastructure projects. This full‑time position is based in Mombasa and involves hands‑on work with machinery, vehicles, and plant equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain machinery, motor vehicles and plant equipment to ensure optimal operation.
• Conduct testing of mechanical equipment and verify compliance with standards.
• Design and modify plant components as required.
• Prepare and manage an inventory of mechanical inspection works and services.
• Recommend and coordinate necessary repairs on motor vehicles and machinery.
• Prepare progress reports on mechanical inspections for management.

Required profile

• At least six years of relevant work experience, including three years at Inspector II (Mechanical) level or a comparable position.
• Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• Membership with the Kenya Engineering Technologist Registration Board (KETREB).
• Proficiency in computer applications.
• Demonstrated merit and ability reflected in work performance and results.
