Integrated Maintenance Strategy and Implementation Consultant

About the role

UNICEF is seeking a consultant to develop, pilot, and operationalise an integrated maintenance approach for health technologies across multiple countries. The role will focus on improving equipment functionality and service continuity in primary health care settings, including immunisation, oxygen delivery and diagnostics.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct baseline assessments of existing maintenance practices in selected pilot countries.
• Design an operational model that integrates cold chain, medical devices, ICT, waste management and solar solutions.
• Lead the implementation of the model, including capacity‑strengthening workshops and technical support.
• Document lessons learned and produce scalable guidelines for broader adoption.
• Collaborate with government partners to establish sustainable financing and governance mechanisms.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in public health, engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in health‑technology maintenance or programme management.
• Proven experience working in low‑resource or fragile settings.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of health equipment maintenance standards and best practices.
• Experience with integrated programme design and implementation.
• Ability to conduct technical assessments and develop operational frameworks.
