Internal Audit Field Officer – Magarini

About the role

GiveDirectly is hiring a contract Internal Audit Field Officer for its Magarini sub-county in Kilifi, Kenya. The officer helps ensure that cash transfers to recipients are delivered safely by auditing the enrolment team's work and investigating field-based risks. The role requires discretion, impartiality and independence, with interactions limited to the internal audit team.

Key responsibilities

• Engage in person with households selected for enrollment to check their safety, assess vulnerabilities and flag pre-enrollment risks to management
• Support high-risk recipients and resolve flagged recipient cases
• Identify and escalate program risks in the community
• Monitor risk with the Internal Audit Area Finance Manager (AFM), verify partner data quality before enrollment and measure field data against quality standards
• Report fraud and bribery and use technology to flag operational anomalies
• Support the AFM with onboarding, hosting visitors and responding to crisis events such as refusal spikes or coordinated fraud
• Help build team culture through recognition and team events

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies or a related field; fraud investigation experience is an advantage
• Ability to audit cash transfer recipients through in-person or virtual surveys
• Proficiency in Giriama is a must; fluency in English and Kiswahili
• Physical fitness and the ability to cope with difficult weather or terrain
