Investigation Manager (P-4) – UNICEF Nairobi

About the role

The Office of Internal Audit and Investigations (OIAI) at UNICEF seeks an experienced Investigation Manager to lead complex, sensitive investigations into fraud, corruption, harassment and other misconduct. Based in Nairobi, the role reports to the Chief of Investigations and supports UNICEF’s mission to protect children worldwide.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct preliminary assessments, interview victims and formulate investigation plans.
• Identify investigative strategies, methodologies, confidentiality requirements and resource needs.
• Coordinate inputs from staff, consultants and specialists under matrix management.
• Plan, direct and personally conduct investigations in line with UNICEF policies and standards.
• Ensure investigations are completed timely, meet quality standards and produce clear reports.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in law, criminology, public administration or related field.
• Extensive experience in conducting investigations of fraud, corruption or misconduct.
• Proven ability to manage multi‑disciplinary teams and matrix‑managed resources.
• Strong analytical, judgment and decision‑making skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of investigative standards, policies and procedures.
• Familiarity with confidentiality protocols and evidence handling.
