Investigation Officer (P-2) – Fixed Term – Nairobi

About the role

The Office of Internal Audit and Investigation (OIAI) at UNICEF seeks a dedicated Investigation Officer (P-2) to join its Nairobi team. Reporting to the Chief of Investigations, you will support the planning, organization and conduct of investigations into allegations of misconduct, fraud, corruption and sexual exploitation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design and execution of investigations covering mismanagement, waste of resources, abuse of authority and retaliation.
• Conduct and support investigations into sensitive matters, including Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and Sexual Harassment, following UNICEF policies and victim‑centred principles.
• Apply relevant administrative rules, investigative procedures and evidentiary standards to ensure thorough and timely outcomes.
• Support day‑to‑day operational and specialized activities of the investigation function.
• Travel to UNICEF locations, often in difficult duty stations, as required.

Required profile

• Professional experience in investigations, audit or related fields.
• Familiarity with United Nations and UNICEF regulations, rules and policies.
• Ability to handle confidential and complex cases with integrity.
• Willingness to travel frequently and work in challenging environments.
