Investigation Officer (P-2) – Fixed Term – Nairobi

About the role

The Office of Internal Audit and Investigation (OIAI) at UNICEF seeks a dedicated Investigation Officer (P-2) on a fixed‑term basis in Nairobi. Reporting to the Chief of Investigations, you will support the planning, organization and execution of investigations into misconduct, fraud, waste, and sexual exploitation and abuse.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the design and conduct of investigations covering allegations of fraud, corruption, mismanagement, and SEAH (sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment).
• Gather, preserve and analyse evidence in accordance with UNICEF investigative standards and victim‑centred principles.
• Prepare investigative reports, recommendations and documentation for management and disciplinary actions.
• Coordinate with other UNICEF units, external partners and, when required, travel to difficult duty stations.
• Support day‑to‑day operational tasks of the investigation section to ensure smooth workflow.

Required profile

• University degree in law, criminology, public administration, or a related field.
• Relevant experience in investigations, audit, or compliance, preferably within an international organization.
• Understanding of UN and UNICEF regulations, policies and investigative procedures.
• Ability to handle sensitive and complex cases with confidentiality and professionalism.

Required skills

• Strong analytical and evidentiary assessment skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English.
• Proficiency in report writing and documentation.
