IT Intern – Hardware & Network Support

About the role

Java House Africa is seeking an IT Intern to support the reliability of hardware, CCTV, printers and UPS systems across its headquarters and branch network in Nairobi. The role combines hands‑on technical work with network troubleshooting and end‑user support.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure availability and reliability of hardware, CCTV, printers and UPS systems at HQ and branches.
• Provide end‑user support for computer hardware, software and network issues.
• Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on workstations and other IT equipment.
• Plan and execute desktop hardware upgrades and participate in new store system rollouts.
• Maintain inventory of IT equipment and manage network equipment installation and customization.
• Log and resolve help‑desk incidents within agreed SLA response times.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or Diploma in Electronics, Computer Science or related field from a recognized university.
• Relevant certifications such as A+, N+, MCT or MCITP.
• Minimum 2 years of experience with computer hardware, system software and remote site support.

Required skills

• Hardware and software troubleshooting (POS, printers, UPS, CCTV).
• Network knowledge: WAN, LAN, cabling, network equipment installation and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Windows Server 2003/2008, Active Directory and Windows XP environments.
• Familiarity with EPOS support and server platforms.
