JSS Teacher - Integrated Science & Pre-Technical Studies

About the role

A full-time JSS teacher position in Kiambu to teach Integrated Science and Pre-Technical Studies under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). The teacher plans and delivers learner-centred lessons, promotes practical learning and supports students' scientific knowledge, technical skills, creativity and problem-solving.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver lessons in Integrated Science and Pre-Technical Studies according to the approved curriculum.
• Implement the CBC through learner-centred, competency-based teaching and practical activities.
• Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson notes and other instructional materials.
• Conduct continuous assessments, evaluate learner progress and keep accurate assessment records.
• Organise and supervise practical activities, experiments and projects while observing safety procedures.
• Integrate digital learning resources and technology where appropriate.
• Identify individual learner needs and provide support, and maintain classroom discipline in a safe, inclusive environment.
• Take part in departmental meetings, co-curricular activities, school events and professional development, and collaborate with colleagues, parents and school management.

Required profile

• Degree in Education with a relevant specialisation in Integrated Science and Pre-Technical Studies, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
• Registered with the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
• Sound understanding of the CBC curriculum and competency-based assessment, with strong subject knowledge.
• Proficiency in digital literacy and use of digital learning resources.
• Previous experience teaching at Junior Secondary School level is an added advantage.
• Good communication, classroom management and interpersonal skills, and a valid Certificate of Good Conduct.
