Junior AI Solution Developer

About the role

UNDP Kenya is looking for a Junior AI Solution Developer to create and deploy AI‑powered tools that improve government‑citizen communication and public service delivery. The role focuses on building a sentiment analysis platform for English and Kiswahili communications and contributing to at least three additional AI solutions for government partners.

Key responsibilities

• Develop an AI‑driven sentiment analysis tool from prototype to production‑ready deployment for government use.
• Design, build, test, and iterate machine‑learning and NLP models (text classification, sentiment analysis) for English and Kiswahili data.
• Contribute to the design and delivery of at least three local AI solutions that enhance public service efficiency.
• Prepare technical documentation, user guides, and hand‑over materials while applying responsible‑AI, data‑protection, and security best practices.
• Collaborate closely with the Regional Centre of Competence technical team, government counterparts, and other stakeholders to gather requirements, demonstrate solutions, and support integration.

Required profile

• Junior‑level professional with a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, AI or a related field.
• Strong interest in public sector innovation and democratic governance.
• Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and communicate effectively in English (Kiswahili is a plus).
• Willingness to engage with government partners and attend training workshops.
