Solution Architecture Manager

About the role

Canonical is looking for a Solution Architecture Manager to lead its Field Engineering team. You will help customers adopt and implement Canonical’s open‑source solutions across public clouds and on‑premises data centres, spanning everything from Ubuntu to advanced ML‑ops and data platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a global field engineering team, providing line management and career guidance.
• Design, deploy, test and hand over private‑cloud (OpenStack, MicroCloud, Ceph) and hybrid solutions (Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Spark, PostgreSQL) for customers.
• Engage in technical pre‑sales conversations, offering architecture advice and solution sizing.
• Collaborate with support and managed‑services teams to ensure smooth project transitions.
• Drive the expansion of Canonical’s open‑source portfolio into new industries such as telco, finance, health‑care and media.

Required profile

• Experienced engineering manager who is also a strong hands‑on engineer.
• Comfortable troubleshooting complex technical issues and communicating solutions to customers.
• Proven ability to shape team direction, focus and delivery while developing engineering talent.
• Passion for open‑source technologies and their enterprise adoption.
